Eureka Recycling is a Minneapolis based zero-waste organization focusing on reuse, recycling, composting, waste reduction, and producer responsibility. With so much happening at all times, in many different areas of the facility, it would be impossible to have even a 15-minute break for any photography.
So, I threw on hard hat, safety goggles and vest, and was taken up and down stairs as colorful pieces of plastic in all shapes and sizes raced above and below me in the recycling line. I documented both the process and the many hands behind layers of sorting. Headshots for the leadership team were taken in and around the finished bales of recycling, and that provided a unique (and relevant) setting for portraits. I love that my job takes me to places I’d never think of going – and even how visually inspiring such a facility could be!
